The Alba yarn collection is exclusive to Sealy MacWheely and has been blended and spun specially to my specifications with a unique blend of top quality British bred fibres.

Each colourway has been inspired by the landscape, language and folklore of the beautiful country of Scotland:

Smàrag is the Scottish Gaelic name for the precious stone, emerald. Although there are no emerald deposits to be found in Scotland this beautiful shade of green is reminiscent of the mystical Tobar Loch Shianta on the Isle of Skye, a healing well surrounded by wildflowers and plants used traditionally as medicinal remedies. It was believed that by drinking the water from the well then walking around the loch three times deiseil (sunwise or clockwise) and leaving scraps of cloth or coins the waters would heal a number of diseases. 

This yarn has been worsted spun for a soft yet rustic yarn, the perfect match of luxury and performance. Semisolid yarns make a great contrast for your favourite variegated hand dyed skeins or can be used by themselves to add a pop of colour to your next project. They feature subtle tonal variations which add a beautiful depth of shade when knitted or crocheted up.
