Stocainnean | Sock Snake Kit

The Stocainnean (Scottish Gaelic meaning socks or stockings) sock snake kit is a great way to create your own hand knitted socks in just a few short hours for those of us who simply do not have the time to knit up socks or struggle with second-sock-syndrome. If you have never knitted an afterthought heel before this is a great way to learn the theory of sock shaping which I promise isn’t as scary as it looks! 

The pattern has been written to include instructions for both a rounded and square toe and heel to allow you the opportunity to create socks to your personal preference but other heel shapes are also available online. Likewise instructions for knitting up on both Double Pointed Needles (DPNs) or Circular Needles are provided below along with a walk through of the Kitchener Stitch.

Kit Contains:

- full instructions for afterthought heel and toes,
- pre-knitted sock snake suitable for one pair of adult socks in hand dyed Sealy MacWheely yarn
- contrasting hand dyed mini skein - handmade stitch markers
- spare yarn for darning

Made using professional acid dyes and although every care has been taken to ensure that the dyes are completely colourfast there may be a small amount of crocking during the first wash and usage. For more information about how to care for your hand dyed yarns click here
