The Alba yarn collection is exclusive to Sealy MacWheely and has been blended and spun specially to my specifications with a unique blend of top quality British bred fibres.

Each colourway has been inspired by the landscape, language and folklore of the beautiful country of Scotland:

Uath [uəh] (oo-uh) is the old Scottish Gaelic name for the Hawthorn which also represented the letter H in the Ogham alphabet. The hawthorn was one of, if not the, most likely tree to be inhabited or protected by faeries and as such it was deemed bad luck to damage or cut a tree in case you incurred the wrath of the Fays. Likewise, across Britain is was deemed taboo to bring wreaths of hawthorn into the house as it was considered a bringer of illness and death, possibly due to the assertion that the blossoms smelled of the Great Plague.

This yarn has been worsted spun for a soft yet rustic yarn, the perfect match of luxury and performance. Made using professional acid dyes and although every care has been taken to ensure that the dyes are completely colourfast there may be a small amount of dye leakage during the first wash.
